A Few Words

As many of you know, this wedding has taken many shapes and forms throughout the planning process. First, it was going to be a backyard celebration at our home. Then, it turned into a tiny family weekend that ended in a ceremony. And finally, it became what it is now… a bit of all of the above?

What truly shifted our thinking from a small, 33-person gathering to something a little bigger was, honestly, all of you. It felt nearly impossible to imagine celebrating without the people who make us laugh the most, who’ve shown up for us, and who’ve been part of our story.

So, in a beautifully chaotic and completely on-brand turn of events, we decided to expand the celebration. And in true Jay & Shiv fashion, this weekend had to feel like us…a little wacky, a little wonderful, and a heartfelt blend of our traditions.

Throughout the weekend (and even on this site), you’ll see little nods to our Indian heritage. We know some of you might be hoping for the full five-day Indian wedding experience, and while this isn’t quite that, we promise to bring all the color, energy, and meaning you’d expect.

This celebration is something we’ve poured a lot of thought and heart into, and we really can’t wait to share it with you. Sure, we may already be “legally” married, but standing in front of our friends and family, saying our vows out loud, feels like something far more meaningful.

That said, we know life is full and travel isn’t always easy. If it doesn’t work out, no worries - we’ll be celebrating again in Washington and would love to raise a glass with you then.

With love,

Shiv & Jay
